The first rally weekend of the 2020 season could not be better for crews serviced by the Rallytechnology team. All three duos were at the finish line of 4th Rally Ireco Motorsport, and with very good times. The highest step of the podium in the general classification was won by Kacper Wróblewski and Jakub Wróbel, who won already in the first joint start. During their debut in the new car, they fought the most fierce duel with Tomasz Kasperczyk and Damian Syta, so the table was headed by both Volkswagen Polo GTi R5s, serviced under the Rallytechnology tents. Not less important is the fact, that this is the first victory won behind the wheel of this model on Polish special stages.
The top seven was closed by Dariusz Poloński and Łukasz Sitek, who had a particularly demanding task on the wet and slippery sections. Despite the fact that they were driving an RWD car, they achieved very good times in the group of rally cars R5 and Proto. In addition, spectators could again see the rivalry between Darek Poloński and Jacek Jurecki. The Abarth 124 Rally RGT duo had to give way to rivals in the Proto Fiesta, but their loss at the finish line in Nowa Ruda was just over 12 seconds. They also won one stage in the PRO1 rate.
Special stage victories in the general classification went to Kasperczyk, Wróblewski and Marcin Słobodzian, who achieved an ex equo result on the final run of the Kosmos trial. It was the duo Słobodzian / Hundla who stood on the third step of the podium of this rally, interestingly finishing with the same total time as Kasperczyk and Syty.
Robert Gabryszewski (Rallytechnology team manager): We are returning to the special stages in the best possible way. Not only will we bring form Nowa Ruda the first Polish victory of the Polo R5 GTI, but above all a double podium, won in new cars and with a new cast. If we add to this the great attitude of Darek and Łukasz, no wonder that after this weekend we cannot wait for the return of the Polish and European Championships.
All three duos did a beautiful job today because the stages, conditions and short-distance fights were very difficult today. The weather was not so good, but I think that the long-awaited view of rally drivers racing on the special stage compensated all the inconvenience for the fans. For us it was a huge injection of positive energy. Thanks not only to the crews, but also to the organizers and fans, for the excellent atmosphere. This edition will be remembered for a long time!
